Default Facebook Confirms Major Android Announcement Next Thursday

Will Facebook introduce the long-awaited and widely-rumored "Facebook phone" next Thursday? That's the big scuttlebutt tonight as Facebook has begun sending out media invites to a major press event scheduled for Thursday, April 4th in Menlo Park, California.

Facebook isn't dishing on specifics just yet, but a major Android announcement is indeed on the way.

“Come see our new home on Android,” the invite reads, suggesting either a new Facebook app for Android... or something else.

"Some sources have come forward to say a Facebook Phone is on the horizon," says Brittany Hillen of Slashgear. "The invite is a simple tease – vague title, location, date and time – giving us just enough information to spend the next week guessing. Some sources have surfaced, however, saying that we should expect an operating system."

Plenty of knowledgeable sources believe that Facebook will introduce a modified Android operating system with an HTC handset.

There's a good chance that these and other rumors will be rampant until next week at this time. The only thing we know for sure is that Facebook has something big brewing.

All their previous events have been very underwhelming. I'm not expecting much next week.

A company should make a phone ( Facebook phone or who ever) and make a version of iOS and An Android version. Best of both worlds. I don't enjoy android but wouldn't it be smart? Maybe unrealistic lol and apple would go for it. Android would / is.

    "That's the big scuttlebutt tonight"
I'm confused... So you're saying its "the big drinking fountain tonight?"

    Anyways...
I'm an iPhone user, I've been one since day 1 of the iPhone back in 07. But I think very highly of the android OS. It's an amazing operating system and has a ton of potential. My only complaint is that every different phone manufacture who uses android as the OS for their device, modifies the OS to fit their device. If all the phones could use the same hardware, or at lest not so many different variations, I think android would be MUCH better. Until they stop using android on EVERYTHING ill be sticking with IOS. It's designed for its hardware.

Facebook phone. Huh. So every time they do a hardware refresh, will they break/drop the most useful feature(s)?
