'NCMusicGestures' Gives You a Handy Music Widget for Notification Center
If you use your iOS device for music, and you’re looking for a super simple music controlling solution for Notification Center without all of the extra bells and whistles for the right price, then check out a new free Notification Center add-on called NCMusicGestures by iOS developer Pat Sluth.
Shown above, the widget is very simplistic. Your album art is shown in the bottom left corner of the widget and the song name, album, and artist are shown just to the right of the album art. At the top, you'll find a music scrubber that you can use to move to specific parts of a song.
Notable right off the bat, you will see page dots right under the slider. This is because if you swipe over, you’ll find share buttons for Facebook, Twitter, and a donate button if you feel like donating to the developer. The Facebook and Twitter buttons allow you to share what you’re listening to you with your friends or followers.
Additionally, you can swipe left or right on the album art to move forward or backward through your music library. These controls serve as next song and previous song controls. Tapping on the album art will either play or pause the song depending on the playing state of the music when you use the gesture.
The widget must be enabled via the Notifications preferences pane in the Settings application for you to use the widget:
Overall the add-on seems to be a workable solution for the average Joe looking for a simple way to control their music via Notification Center; however, it only works with the stock Music application, so Spotify, Pandora, Rdio, and Grooveshark users are out of luck with this add-on. If you’re interested, you'll find the add-on in Cydia today!
