Facebook Update for iOS Adds Cover Photo Editing, More Convenience Features

Facebook has Monday afternoon rolled out an update for the free Facebook application for iOS, which is available in the App Store.

The update now gives users the ability to edit their personal profile Cover Photo on the go. Users can pick a photo from their Camera Roll, or they can take a picture with the camera. This feature is currently only for the iPhone version of the application.

In addition to changing the Cover Photo, the application has been updated with convenience features for group conversations, such as requiring fewer taps to begin a group message between friends, and making it easier to find and name group conversations between you and your friends.

Existing Facebook users will find the update in the Updates tab from the App Store. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of the Facebook application from the App Store via this link.

I never understood why they took that feature out? It was in a previous version, 3xx something, not a big fan of the app

The worst feature removal was when they started only showing "unfriend" instead of also having "remove from newsfeed."

In the nearby section you can no longer see which friends are close anymore. They only allow you to see restaurants gas stations and stores. Don't ever even use this anymore. Disappointing again...

That's why I save all my old versions of apps.... FB 5.0.1 was the last version that allowed posting pics from locations other than just Camera Roll!! Stupid...I hacked the plist file so i dont have to look at update badge n have that ver on my phone...I'll never update again till they fix that...

they make two different apps - ipad and iphone based on the content of the viewing area need for the information that is presented to you.
apparently the features differ- just as you see so many iphone tweaks compared ipad tweaks... on the tweak side- the developer lacks the interest to modify for ipad- as for apple I'm sure they are working on it, I'm sure the iphone user experience will yield much better feedback. . .

NOW there's just this small matter of removing a top end from a lower end
