If I recall, iOS and Android materialized in around the same time. The problem is that Apple hasn't had a "next big thing" since the iPhone 4!

"The next big thing," eh. I cannot even imagine what the next big thing would look like. For a lot of manufacturers, for example, Samsung, the next big thing was poked fun at and produced literally with their 8" note-phone. Hardware innovation is no longer going to be mind-blowing, as phones come closer to their potential maximum with current technology in terms of design; phones are already thin, battery life is being maximized with software optimization and hardware design, cellular speeds no longer depend on chip-sets with the likes of LTE around but instead on the carriers that provide them, and operating systems already perform all the mobile-computation functions that consumers would have wanted in a smartphone. So what is next exactly? My personal belief, is that smartphones will perform as full desk-top replacements when hardware evolves even further years down the road. Motorola already foreshadowed what this future would look like with their Motorola Atrix.

The iPhone 4 was released June of 2010. The original iPhone was June of 2007. That's 3 years. That would mean this years iPhone would be up for major updates. Why is everyone complaining that its not fast enough.

    It's debate, not argue.

If you don't like the upgrades every year then upgrade every 3 and see just how much the improvements are.

You don't upgrade your car, television, or anything else every year unless you just have the money to blow why are upgrades on a phone so important to everyone.

    Because they're there.

But in all seriosity, it used to be that phone contracts lasted a year.
Now they last two years, if that makes you any happier.
    I'm suprised to hear this POV from a MMYI-forum member ... where's your self-respect ?

I like innovation just as much as the next but the speed at which its being released is just fine. I don't expect large upgrades year after year.

It was only funny because I thought the only one here that's smart enough to understand a reference to what is perhaps the most famous philosophical statement of all time made the mistake. Of course it's only expected that people like us would.

So get the tissue box out, have a good cry, man up and move on.
Someone else has taken up the baton and the iPhone is a living fossil (read : dead).
A nice example of ad-hominem attacks and a spelling error. Truly he is smarter and more logical than everyone else who pointed this out to him.

Can you explain how the statements quoted above aren't ad-hominem?

It's not hard to find grammatical errors.
