Path recently released version 3.0 of its iOS app, which comes packed with one-to-one and group messaging as well as an in-app store called The Shop, which offers access to “stickers” and special photo filters. The new features are an effort to earn some money and keep up against competitors.

The messaging feature is similar to Facebook’s recent update with the exception that Path allows users to insert special content like songs into the conversation. In The Shop, Path has consolidated its premium photo filters and new sticker packs into one location. For those of you who weren’t aware, the $0.99 filters were previously available to buy within the camera feature.

As far as the new stickers go, they are sold in packs and the artwork is large and well-accomplished, adding certain flair to messages that emoticons can’t typically capture. While the purchasable digital decals may seem like an unnecessary addition, the in-app buys help support Path as it seeks to turn a profit on its popular service.

Version 3.0 also comes packed with a slew of bug fixes and overall improvements, making the app quicker and easier to use. The new features are available for free as part of a 23.1 MB download from the App Store for those of you who are interested.
