'LandscapeVideos' Will Force Videos to Play in Landscape Mode
When you’re using an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, the display is taller than it is wide, so considering watching a video in portrait mode isn't a very good idea because you’ll just be wasting pixels whether you choose to zoom in to the video or not.
The solution – why not just force all videos into landscape mode automatically? A new free jailbreak tweak called LandscapeVideos by iOS developer Xeros will do that for you!
After installing LandscapeVideos, just head over to the tweak’s preference pane in the Settings application to configure its options:
The user can enable and disable the tweak on demand, as well as choose to have the tweak only automatically move videos to landscape mode when the portrait orientation lock is enabled, or always. Users will also get to select the landscape position that the orientation will switch to when a video begins playing, such as having the home button on the right or the left of the device.
The tweak works with most native video implementations, such as video files in the Videos application, but not Google’s YouTube application, which is a little bit of a disappointment. On the other hand, it does work with videos played from the YouTube Web site in Safari. Nonetheless, some people will find the tweak useful, and it's free!
