PkgBackup Update Adds Support For New Cydia Apps
A popular package among many jailbreak enthusiasts is one called PkgBackup, developed by Jibril Gueye. Since the evasi0n jailbreak, there have been a lot of new apps appearing in Cydia, many unfortunately were not supported by PkgBackup, until now. PkgBackup will allow users to backup/restore all cydia packages, in additions to preferences & springboard files. It also support Categories & hidden files. Furthermore, you can also autobackup & schedule a backup.

This breaks your iCloud backup!! Be warned. It broke mine and 2 subsequent updates that were supposed to fix it did not. I had to do 3 restores and have since stayed away from it.

The iCloud fix for the previous version was to select Activate under settings/pkgbackup to reset pckbackup
Just tested this versions and no need for the reset, iCloud continues to work for me

One word, xbackup!!
Destroys this app & doesn't need update for "new Cydia apps" lol

$10.00 !?!?!? Really? I'll pass on the ridiculously expensive "cydia" app that should be a free feature of cydia in the first place... ::laughing at anyone who actually buys this::

^ kinda agree, Cydia should have at least a "restore purchases" function if not restore all packages.

For those of you who are badmouthing Pkgbackup, you need some perspective on this product.
First of all, you have access to previous backups you have done by date & time.
This is important if you have screwed up and accidentally installed something that is messing up Cydia.
Also, you can go back and selectively install or remove specific apps. This is a huge advantage when
you are trying to figure out why your phone is going into safe mode.
When you use Xbackup you must use iTunes to cause the backup,
and when restoring you must restore through iTunes, so you have to go through another jailbreak!
If Apple is not signing your version of IOS and you have an A5 or A6 device, BLAM!, you just lost your jailbreak!

I have used this app on an iphone 3GS, iphone 4, and now an iphone 5.
It runs without using iTunes.
You can backup or restore individual apps or complete groups, (total flexibility).
It backs up or restores based on date and time., so you go to a specific backup
and restore an individual app.
The backup or restore occurs only with jailbroken data, so you don't have to
restore your iphone through IOS.
It has the flexiblity to store your backup on your iphone, dropbox, sugarsync, or skydrive.
It remembers and backs up your preference files, springboard files, and folders.
(So you will have the same layout as when you backed up).
