Popular Game Plants Vs. Zombies Goes Free in the iOS App Store

The popular Plants Vs. Zombies title in the iOS App Store, by PopCap Games, has become a free download. The major discount is an improvement over the original $2.99 price for the game. The discount is also available for the iPad version of the game, which was originally $6.99 and is also now free.

In Plants Vs. Zombies, your goal is to protect your house with plants from the incoming zombies. Each plant has a different special ability, including damage-inflicting attacks that can tear the zombies apart, and sun-producing plants that offer sun tokens, which are used as the in-game currency to plant more plants in the yard.

The zombies also have special abilities, including that some are more heavily armored than others, some can jump over plants, and some can even swim. As you progress through the game, you will unlock more plants that can deal with these special abilities of the zombies, and strategically place the plants to beat the level.

Throughout the game you will also collect coins that can be used to unlock some unlockable content, such as more plant slots, a rake trap, and additional plants.

This was such a great game. surprised there wasn't a part 2 released! although the mini-games was a nice addition. i would like some multiplayer.. maybe a VS. mode!

Mannn, I caved in and bought this app a few weeks ago. Sucks that I didn't get it for free, but glad to see them offer it free now. At least ill get the iPad version free :-)

This is the most addicting game ever! I bought both versions a while back so I won't be able to take advantage of the sale.
