Make the General Preference Pane Easier to Spot With 'highlightGeneral'

It seems that with each major iOS update, Apple adds more preference panes to iOS’s Settings application. In addition, when we install a lot of jailbreak tweaks, we also tend to add a lot of preference panes to iOS’ Settings application. At some point, it gets harder and harder to find what we’re looking for because the list of preference panes in the Settings application can get really long.

A free jailbreak tweak that just came out in Cydia today called highlightGeneral by iOS developer DngayRas attempts to make it easier to spot the General preferences pane in the Settings application when your list of preference panes get really long.

It’s a minor modification that colors the General preference pane blue, while leaving all of the rest of the preferences panes black. The General preference pane is a pane that we use often to adjust our settings, so it could be useful if you have a long list of preference panes. If you have a short list of preference panes, you might not need the tweak, unless you like the looks of the blue label.

Right now the tweak doesn't offer a whole lot of flexibility, and it has no options to configure. It would be cool if the developer included the ability to select the color that you want, and the ability to apply the color to any preference pane that you want in a future update. On the other hand, if you find it to be getting harder to spot your General preference pane, you can give highlightGeneral a try.

Wow. The word useless just got a whole new definition.
The General panel always stays in the same place, as jailbreak app configuration panels go on the bottom.

A tweak that allows you to reorder the settings the way you want them would be good!

It's called like folder preferences or something. It's in cydia ... It always u to make your own categories and put them anywhere.

You're correct! It's called Preference Folders. I was actually a beta tester for this tweak! It hasnt been updated for iOS 6.x but it still worx. I have it on my ip5!!!

I'm still mad that I have to go to General settings so often for things that deserve their own primary category, like Bluetooth.

That "Devices" label looks so yucky. The developer should do something about that.

Yeah, I know we have options. Thanks. I'm just saying that Apple needs to fix their categorization for all users. Bluetooth is not some obscure thing that needs to be buried with all the other "General" things that weren't important enough to get their own category.

It's the Apple 'Devices' label. It has nothing to do w/ the tweak. Go to Bluetooth in Settings and you'll see it's the same

Homescreen Settings hasn't been updated yet. Unzip and add these files to: var/mobile/Library/WebClips

You can manually change the icons if you want like I originally did!

Yes, I know it's the same. The tweak pulls the pane out onto the home screen and doesn't put anything between the label and your home screen wallpaper, which creates an ugly appearance. That could be tweaked for aesthetic purposes.

Unzip and place these in:
/var/mobile/Library/WebClips
