iOS Hackers Deem iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Safe, Go Ahead and Update Through iTunes

iOS hackers MuscleNerd and planetbeing have both confirmed that the public release of iOS 6.1 is jailbreak safe! The update is vulnerable to all of the vulnerabilities that the hackers had planned on using to jailbreak iOS 6.1. That being said, update away! (Through iTunes)

According to planetbeing, while the firmware can be jailbroken, it's going to take a little while to get everything all polished up, bug free, and get a jailbreak method that can be released to the public:

Yes. The iTunes restore will wipe out your previous OTA tickets.

Because OTA updates mess up the APticket and SHSH hashes.

If you try to JB your OTA'ed 6.1 it might still work
but you won't be able to downgrade back to 6.1 in the future.
And jailbreaking it in the future might be "hard" or "real hard" or "impossible".
And if you OTA another update on top of JB'n 6.1 you lose both your current jailbreak,
AND the possibility of restoring to a previous jailbreakable firmware.
