'TweetAmplius' Makes Character Limits on Twitter for iOS A Thing of the Past

Those of you that use Twitter a lot know just how inconvenient it can be to have to shorten your Twitter messages down to a measly 140 characters. It can make it very difficult to efficiently communicate with people either by mention or by DM because you have to constantly break messages apart or leave important words out to make it fit into the character limit, and this can make it very hard for the receiver to keep track of what you’re trying to say.

While there’s no bulletproof way to bypass the 140 character limit on Twitter, we can still trick the system by using text expanding services, which will post links to the rest of what we are saying. This way, everything stays all in one Tweet. A new free jailbreak tweak dubbed TweakAmplius by iOS developers Ariel Aouizerate and Daniel Ferreira will do this for you automatically, with no effort on your part.

As you can see in the screenshot comparison above, normally when you go past the 140 character limit, the Tweet button will gray out and the numbers indicating how many characters you have left will become negative and turn red, indicating that you’ve gone over your limit.

After you install TweetAmplius, you can type as long of a message as you want and the Tweet button will not gray out. Additionally, when you go over 140 characters, the characters left indicator will turn into an ellipses, indicating that part of your Tweet will be put into a text-expanding service so that everything you typed can be sent out in one Tweet and not multiple. TweetAmplius has no options to configure, and it’s compatible with both the official Twitter application and the third-party Tweetbot application. TweetAmplius also works on all iOS versions that are supported by the Twitter clients.

The major advantage to TweetAmplius is that it’s free. Tweaks like TwitkaFly can do this very same thing, however you’ll have to shell out money to grab those tweaks. If you’re a hardcore user of Twitter, especially on iOS, you should grab TweetAmplius and give it a try. You won’t be disappointed by its seamless integration into the applications.

Infinite Tweet does the same thing but it still shows how much you're over, gives you the option of whether you want to post to Twitlonger, Cut to where you'll have 0 characters, or just cancel, and gives you a few different settings you can configure for each app that connects to Twitter

Infinite Tweet also costs money.

It is a highlight of this tweak that it's simple and free.

Tried it on Tweetbot and it didn't work! The app was hanged for a while then quitted itself & kicked me out back to the homescreen. Like it though!

Prolly cuz Tweetbot SUX!!! LOL! J/K, I know a lot of people love Tweetbot but I'm not a fan and just use the regular, ole Twitter.app...

Have not give it a try but it sucks that it isnt working properly for Tweetbot since its the one I use and after starting reading wanted it.

The tweak works with version 2.6.2 of Tweetbot. Make sure you're using that version.

Also for future reference, the tweak works with version 5.x of the official Twitter app.

Kinda sucks that Tweetbot has already upgraded to 2.7.1 so this doesn't work. Any word on a plan to unpdate the tweak?

*Update - I stand corrected. It works with the updated version. Just have to get the the 140 character limit then it allows you to continue beyond the preset limit.*
