Apple: 2 Billion iMessages Are Sent Every Day

iMessage is Apple’s messaging service that was introduced as a new feature in iOS 5 to iOS devices. It also expanded to the Mac officially in OS X Mountain Lion, however users had access to a beta version of Messages for Mac while using Mac OS X Lion for a short while.
As a part of Apple's earnings conference on Wednesday, it was revealed that over two billion iMessages are sent every day from Apple's devices. This includes iPhones, iPod touches, iPads, and even Mac computers running the latest OS X Mountain Lion operating system with the built-in Messages application.
iMessage took off in popularity because of its iCloud syncing feature and lack of SMS costs for using it. iMessage has a few other advantages too: there’s not a character limit, you can see when the other person is typing, you can send read receipts, and you can send or receive from multiple different e-mails.
I send a number of iMessages each day myself; a happy contributor to the two billion figure. Do you send many iMessages throughout the day?

iMessages was a great idea, I hope texting eventually gets ruled out its ridiculous what carriers get away with and texting could easily be replaced by a universal online service

Tried it. Unfortunately it's not built in so only a whopping 3 people in my contact list have it. iMessage is also great for messaging to/from MacBook/iMac... I honestly have no idea if whatsapp does that too but inferior messaging is just another reason for me to recommend iOS over android. The family is slowly but surely all going iOS

iMessage is apple's most successful marketing strategy so far.

I send at least 200-300 iMessages a day lol

too bad its non profit, actually they lose money for the servers and services. iMessage probably doesn't bring in enough money to brag about if any at all. Because i can get an instant message for free like Skype gtalk etc...(on any device might i add) its nice to have though.
