AT&T Had Record Q4 Smartphone Sales
AT&T has announced Tuesday morning that the wireless carrier has broken their own record in smartphone sales in Q4. The previous number, 9.4 million, has been shattered by the latest number, 10 million, and involves the sales of Android smartphones, Windows smartphones, and also Apple’s own iPhone.
AT&T was one of many large American carriers to obtain Apple's new iPhone 5 in September of 2012, and this may push some to believe that the convenient timing of the release of the iPhone 5 pushed the carrier over the record of 9.4 million to 10 million, however AT&T has not officially announced the full story yet, so one can only speculate until the full story is released.
According to the press release statement, AT&T had sold more than 110,000 smartphones each day in Q4. That is a lot of smartphones. Ralph de la Vega, the president and chief executive officer for AT&T Mobility, explains how the smartphone subscribers are more important to AT&T than non-smartphone subscribers because they rake in more revenue:
