Default 'WeatherBar' Changes the Status Bar's Color Depending On the Temperature Outside

Wouldn't you find it awesome if you could automatically tell what the weather was like outside without having to glance into the Weather application or launch Notification Center? – If yes, then check out a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed WeatherBar by iOS developer Rudolf Lichtner.

WeatherBar adjusts the hue of the Status Bar depending on the temperature outside. The data is collected using the temperature of your current location, so you can be sure that it will let you know what it’s like outside no matter where you are. As shown above, the hue color will indicate the temperature outside – colder colors represent colder temperatures and warmer colors represent warmer temperatures.

The tweak supports both Celsius and Fahrenheit. If you're using the Celsius unit of measure, the tweak's colors support anywhere from -20C to 50C. If you're using Fahrenheit as a unit of measure, the tweak's colors support anywhere from -4F to 122F. The colors, in order from coldest to warmest are:

    • Violet
    • Blue
    • Green
    • Yellow
    • Orange
    • Red

The colored status bar is transparent, much like the new Status Bar effects on iOS 6, and can be seen on the lock screen, on the home screen, and even from within applications. This means you don’t have to be in a certain location in iOS to see what the temperature is like outside and you’ll be able to see if the temperature changes without ever leaving the middle of what you’re doing.

WeatherBar is iOS 5 and iOS 6-compatible. If you’re interested, head over to the ModMyi repository in Cydia and get downloading!

Interesting idea but I'd rather see a picture of the type of weather...not random colors I have to memorize.

    My two cents...

I don't care how optimal this is for the user as much as the fact it's at least building a foundation for ideas like this. I love the concept and can't wait to see improvement

Going back to my original statement, I think that actual pictures would be better, as it might give the phone a pseudo 'Weather Widget!' Use it w/ WeatherIcon and you've got a cool little combo going!!!

Just downloaded WeatherIcon and it syncs up pretty well with WeatherBar. But them working together can only get better.

But. But. But. Nobody needs to just be able to glance at their screen to see the weather (as spoken by a fanboi). It doe come in handy if you are inside a building with no external windows. That is the one thing I love about Android, the live weather wallpapers.
Not a waterboy for Android OR Apple.

For some, it's not just for the ability to see the weather outside. It's the aesthetic changes and how they're constantly changing to match the weather.

    Customization runs deep.

Exactly. And that's the beauty of live weather wallpaper. Yesterday it was snowing outside and my S3 using TruWeather LWP and my wife's RAZR MAXX HD using Beautiful Widgets LWP had nice backgrounds. My iPhone 5 just had its same old wallpaper. Earlier when the weather that morning was a T-storm the S3 was neat to see (wasn't going to go get her phone and risk the wrath of a woke up female early on a holiday morning!).

Probably have to request an update from the developer. Contact him from Cydia.
