Default Add a Binary Clock to Your Lock Screen With This New Tweak

A new jailbreak tweak in Cydia dubbed Binary Clock by iOS developer FoolishSleuth is now available that allows you to replace the digital clock on the lock screen with a binary clock. Above is a screenshot comparison of the two types of clocks.

One thing is for sure. Unless you have a keen eye for reading binary clocks, being able to tell the time might take some… well… time. There is a nice guide on reading binary clocks at this link. Regardless, the true geeks out there will want to grab this tweak and install it immediately, because it's just cool like that. I mean, who else has a binary clock on the lock screen of their iPhone?

Binary Clock adds a preferences pane in the Settings application so you can adjust a couple of options. The first option is to be able to enable and disable the tweak on demand, so if you decide you need to see the digital clock again, you can simply switch back to it with no respring required. You can also choose to show or hide the date from the lock screen, which could also be useful in reducing clutter:

Apart from these two options, the developer also gives you a bunch of themes to pick from:

There are 15 different themes in total, and you will not have to respring each time you change the binary clock theme because it takes place immediately. The 15 different themes you can pick from are:

    • Standard white
    • Blue dots
    • Blue hearts
    • Cough syrup cherry dots
    • Dark blue
    • Love hearts
    • Mint dots
    • Orange dots
    • Pink dots
    • Purple dots
    • Red dots
    • Vivid blue hearts
    • Wintergreen dots
    • Yellow dots

Below are a couple of examples of the different theme choices:

There is really no benefit to having a binary clock, except maybe having an encrypted time that most ordinary people can’t read, or just the satisfaction of being able to read time in binary, however it is nonetheless a pretty cool tweak.

Binary Clock can be had for just 99 in the BigBoss repository.

    Price: 99

That is cool. Not to sure about 99 cents though. Especially since I'm sure a majority of people would have to learn binary. Hell, I have friends that struggle with the 24 hour clock. Lol.

Not sure how to read that. I know how to read binary but its 8 digits. Those have different amounts of digits.

Check out the guide we linked to in the article. It has a very good explanation for reading binary clocks.

8:36 is actualy being displayed as 08:36 by the clock.
The zero is two digits none of whch are lit.
The eight is four digits, (1, 2, 4, 8), bit 4 is lit.

    etc. etc......
