Apple's iPhone 5 Launches Peacefully in China
It was just one week ago when Apple's iPad mini arrived in orderly fashion on the shelves of Apple stores in China. With Apple having required Chinese customers to participate in an online lottery, MMi was able to report that there were no riots on the streets of China as Apple's long awaited iPad mini finally showed up.
Today, we're happy to report an equally calm and orderly launch for the iPhone 5 after two months of market delays that prevented the popular Apple smartphone from launching sooner inside of the world's most populous mobile community.
As a result of Apple's proven lottery mechanism for distributing scarce inventory, no long lines or the violence that frequently accompanies them were reported today in China. In fact, the first day went swimmingly. And that's great news for everyone, but especially for Apple.
Although China stole the show today in terms of media stories surrounding the iPhone 5, Apple's newest smartphone went on sale in close to three dozen new countries today. The nations include: Albania, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Ecuador, Grenada, Indonesia, Israel, Jamaica, Jordan, Kuwait, Macedonia, Malaysia, Moldova, Montenegro, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.
