Dropbox 2.0 for iOS Brings New Interface, App Icon, Features
Many of you are probably familiar with Dropbox, a popular service for uploading files to the cloud and making them available on every device that you use through both the Dropbox application itself, and through the Web application. Today, Dropbox has updated their iOS application to version 2.0, bringing a completely revamped interface design, new application icon, and a timeline for your uploaded photographs.
The “shiny” new interface looks much more personalized than before, offering darker blues and softer grays that draw the eyes in. The colors really do work together nicely. The photo uploading bar has also been changed. For the most part, most of the application will look familiar, however the major change is up in the top right-hand corner, where you now see a plus button and a check button.
The plus button will open an iPad-style dialog that allows you to either upload a file, or create a folder:
The check button will enable editing mode, so you can select multiple items to move or delete:
One of the interesting new features of the update has to be the new timeline feature, which now shows all of your photographs that are automatically uploaded from your Camera Roll grouped by date under the new Images tab at the bottom of the application. iPad users will be able to take advantage of an interface that shows the photographs on the right side of the screen as they tap on them from the left side of the screen:
Dropbox for iOS is free, and so is the service. Existing users can grab the update for from the Updates tab in the App Store. Alternatively, you can download Dropbox 2.0 from this link.
