Another Credit Card Giant 'Discovers' Apple's Passbook

With such heavyweights as Starbucks, Walgreen's, Target, and even fellow credit card juggernaut American Express already on board, another prominent brand in the realm of consumer finance is stepping up and integrating with Apple's red-hot Passbook.
This week, Discover Card got on board the iOS Passbook bandwagon with an update to Discover Mobile version 4.10. The Discover for iPhone app now delivers full Passbook support and is billed as a way for card holders to save, store, and easily retrieve redeemed cashback bonuses.
Even though Passbook hasn't even been in the public domain for a full three months yet, the rate at which major brands and their services, mobile platforms, and iOS apps are integrating with Passbook has been utterly astounding.Your Discover app now includes Apple Passbook integration for partner eCertificates! Redeem your Cashback Bonus for a partner eCertificate and save it to Passbook! (Available for users on iOS 6 or greater)
As MMi just reported just this past Tuesday, even RE/MAX Regional Services began offering digital business cards to its 4,500 real estate brokers and agents across five states.
Chances are, Passbook is just getting warmed up.

People can call it what they want but I use it and always amazes people
Bank of America should get on top of this though!

Yup waiting for the airline I use all of the time and my credit card and movies as well. I think I will really enjoy it when more companies get on board!

I use the amex passbook. It's useful because I get a notification each time a purchase is made with my card. I can also see my recent transactions.
Don't know if discover will implement the same features though.

Here in the UK there is bugger all that uses passbook, starbucks does but I think I've only ever been to a Starbucks about twice in my life. I've never used the other passbook enabled companies in the UK.
It could be a great idea if it takes off or it could die a death. If more companies get on board it could be great. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
