'iPhone 5S' Prototype Points to Purported Design Changes

Several weeks ago we first began hearing rumblings across the Asian supply chain that Apple is preparing an iPhone 5 refresh likely to be branded the 'iPhone 5S.' And now we're starting to see images that just might back up this suggestion.

Assuming, of course, that these purported shots of the Phone 5S are legitimate, we can tell that some minor changes to the internal design of the smartphone are coming in the next upgrade.

French news site Nowhereelse.fr, which obtained the photos, presents an iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S side by side. In the comparison we can see a tiny tweaked design that is perhaps most noticeable based on the different placement of screws. While it's impossible to assess what improved hardware features will separate the iPhone 5S from the current model, it should be noted that this image could be of a prototype for the iPhone 5 before tweaks were made ahead of the device's massive production last summer.

All told, a growing number of analysts and market watchers now believe that Apple may soon begin upgrading the iPhone more than once a year with most improvements concentrated on performance rather than aesthetics.

Still, it's pretty much a certainty that there will be a 5S. It'll be interesting to see how the 5S sells. I'm sure many people bought the iPhone 5 expecting there'd eventually be a jailbreak released for it. When that doesn't happen, how many people will go and buy another iPhone, just to put it in a drawer, waiting for the "inevitable, imminent" jailbreak?...

I didn't buy an iphone 5 cause of the jailbreak. The jailbreak is an added bonus. My i5 is awesome.

I did,if there's no more jailbreaks I'm gonna stay with my iPhone 5 til further notice.

Aren't the gsm and CDMA versions different? Haven't seen the inside of the CDMA version yet

I miss my jailbroken i4 on 5.1.1. Upgrading is not worth it

No, the iPhone 4 versions were different, but the 4S and 5 have the same internals and all.

I actually never upgrade until a J/B is released. Mywi all the way. I am grandfathered in with unlimited. No sense in having a phone I can't tether with for free.

Cant believe you have not been caught tethering yet! It seems everyone I know myself included have been caught and slammed into a 3gb or 5gb with tethering plan!

i've got the same using pdanet and haven't had a problem. still on unlimited.

I can't believe they would switch your plans. Well I can actually. My AT&T seen how much data I was using coming off an unlimited and put me in a 10gb a month plan for no additional charge
