Default Airlines Continue to add iOS 6 Passbook Compatibility to their Offerings

A few months ago, Apple announced iOS 6 along with the iPhone 5 and a little app named “Passbook.” Passbook was said to collect all the virtual ticket stubs which before resided within individual apps and organizes them for the user in one neat place. Fast forward several months and many companies are working to adopt the technology into their business.

Of the different companies that are starting to include the feature, such as MLB and Starbucks, to a slew of airlines, the trend for Passbook integration continues. In fact, airlines are quickly adopting the technology as more and more iOS users find the mobile boarding passes to be convenience at its finest. As of right now, the total number of Passbook-positive airlines stands at 10 with more still on the way. The following airlines are currently onboard with Passbook technology:

    • Air Canada (new this month)
    • American Airlines
    • ANA (domestic flights only)
    • Lufthansa
    • Malaysian Airlines
    • Porter Airlines
    • Qantas (new this month)
    • Turkish Airlines (new this month)
    • United
    • Virgin Australia

As of right now, British Airways is looking to add Passbook “as soon as [they] can,” while Delta, a company featured in the Apple keynote regarding Passbook, still hasn’t managed to push out their Passbook compatibility. Either way, the two airlines are both said to have the technology integrated in a future update.

For those of you who have yet to use the feature, in order to add an upcoming flight to one of the above airlines to your Passbook, just make sure you’re running iOS 6, login to your account on the airline’s app, then link your emailed flight confirmation that lets you automatically send it to Passbook. Voila, you’ll be all set and can enjoy the convenience of a mobile boarding pass instead of having to carry and take care of an additional piece of paper.
