Google Drive for iOS Updated with Editing Capabilities along with other improvements
Google as always is hard at work looking to improve the user experience with their products, services, and apps. The company recently updated Chrome as mentioned in our previous post and even went ahead and updated Google Drive. Of the features added in the Drive update, the most noteworthy feature is the ability to edit spreadsheets, similar to that of Google Docs. The team behind Google Drive elaborated on their work via the official Drive blog, stating the following:
The newest iteration of the app also boasts improved text formatting when pasting, with Android users being given the exclusive option to edit text within tablets in documents and add homescreen shortcuts to any file in Drive. From the Drive app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, you can create a new spreadsheet or edit an existing one. You can switch fonts, resize columns, sort data, and more. And just like on your computer, you’ll be able to see other people’s edits in real time as they’re made.
According to the changelog in the App Store, the following changes have been made:
- Create, edit and collaborate on spreadsheets
- Upload to Drive from other apps using “Open in…”
- Manage upload progress and see recent uploads in new Uploads section
- Rich text copy-paste within a document
- Improved speed and stability
- Improved contact search for sharing
- Bug fixes
For those of you who currently use the app for the iOS platform, the free update is available in the App Store for you to download. Furthermore, for those of you who haven’t given it a shot or have been waiting for more features to become available, now may be a good time to give the app a whirl.
