Vimeoís universal app was recently updated to version 3.0 recently with an improved focus on navigation and new visuals. Overall the update ended up removing some functionality from the app, which previously tried to cram too much functionality into the limited space on the iPhone screen, leaving users baffled when trying to navigate.

Of the things that were removed, the editing tool was found to be one of the features that no longer made the cut on the iPhone. For those of you who still enjoyed using the feature, you can still save active projects to the Camera Roll. Furthermore, the editor is still said to be present on the iPad so itís not totally gone technically.

Other changes include a new view called the Feed, which allows users to browse new videos, support for background uploads while you continue to watch videos in the app, and the addition of built-in iOS sharing features. The entire app was updated and developed in house rather than being farmed out, which is definitely an indication of good things to come from the Vimeo staff.

The update is available in the app store for free for those of you who are interested in downloading it.
