Default 'FlagPaint' Changes the Color of Your Notification Banners to Match the App

If you don’t want plain, boring, dreary, lackluster, basic, lifeless, and unexciting iOS banner notifications anymore, then check out this awesome new jailbreak tweak dubbed FlagPaint by iOS developers thekirbylover and Bradley Friedman.

FlagPaint is designed to automatically detect the color of the application icon of the application giving you the notification banner. After the color has been determined, the banner notification will be tinted with the same color as the application icon. This means the color will be different for each of your applications and offer a lively change to the way iOS notifies you of incoming notifications.

As shown above, the Messages application (green) shows a green-tinted banner, while the blue Twitter application shows a blue-tinted banner. The same can be said for the Reminders banner, which is black, and the iTunes banner, which is purple.

FlagPaint scores bonus points with the options it comes with to configure. You can configure the banners to look just how you want them to. With the options, you can:

    • Enable or disable the banner color-tinting
    • Make the banners opaque or semi-transparent
    • Show or hide the application icon from the banner
    • Center or left-align the text in the banner
    • Show a fade-in animation for the notification banner

From the preferences pane, you can also use the “Show Test Banner” option to launch a test notification banner that will show you what your options will look like. You do not need to respring after changing any of the options, as they will take effect immediately.

According to the tweak description, FlagPaint can even detect the color of themed application icons. So if you’re a themer and have changed the appearance and look of your application icons, FlagPaint will detect it and use the themed color for the notification banner instead.

If you love customization, FlagPaint is something to consider. It works great and can be used to brighten up the boring appearance of iOS’ black and white notification banners. Check it out!
