AT&T Starts Enabling FaceTime Over Cellular for Customers

Less than two weeks ago, it was announced that AT&T would remove the limitation of their FaceTime over cellular service for shared data plans only. This would give all AT&T customers with iPhones running iOS 6 the ability to initiate and receive FaceTime calls even when not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
According to a report via MacRumors, AT&T has quietly begun the process of enabling the feature for all of its iOS 6 iPhone customers. Since the process of enabling the feature has just begun, it will not be available for everyone just yet, but AT&T promised in their initial announcement that everyone would be able to use the feature within several weeks after the announcement.
Some users that are grandfathered into their unlimited data plans are also reporting that they are able to use the feature, despite the fact that AT&T announced they would only be enabling FaceTime over cellular for customers with tiered data plans. This is certainly a nice gesture from the company.
If you’re an AT&T customer on iOS 6 and have been looking forward to using Apple’s FaceTime over cellular feather on your iPhone, keep an eye out in your cellular settings to see if your FaceTime over cellular setting becomes toggleable for you. Usually you would get a message saying you need to adjust your data plan, however when the feature is enabled for you, you will be able to adjust this setting at your own free will.
If you’re not on iOS 6, you will still need to rely on jailbreak tweaks such as 3G Unrestrictor 5 to use FaceTime over cellular.

Do we have to be on iOS 6 for this to work?
Hopefully that isn't a stupid question aha.
Edit: after taking some OTC sleep aids and not reading the article on full yup dumb.Last edited by Senyaichiya; 11-21-2012 at 10:36 AM.

I hope this is enabled for me soon. I'd love to be able to use the feature over cellular. Unfortunately it's not working for me just yet.

AT&T reps (tier 2) told me on Monday that it will not be enabled for six weeks in any markets. They said they are doing it regionally - and that Houston, TX region will be 8-10 weeks out. AT&T sure has been back and forth on this feature.

Everyone needs to try a full reboot of your phone before reporting back that it doesn't work for you. Any time a change is made on AT&T's end to the functionality of your phone it requires you to fully reboot your phone before the feature will work. So try that before your report here.

I just chat with a representative at ATT.
Please wait for a chat representative to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Steve Austin'
Steve Austin: Good morning and thank you for contacting AT&T Chat Support. How can I assist you today?
You: What do i have to do to enable facetime over my cell network?
I have an iphone 5 with unlimited data plan (XXXXXX) and an iphone 4 with a 3GB data plan (YYYYYYYY)
both running ios 6.01
???
Steve Austin: Facetime over cellular would work on Mobile Share data plans and tiered plans on the iPhone 5 and on the iPhone 4S only on the Mobile Share plan. Unfortunately, it would not work with unlimited data plans and the iPhone 4.
You: ok time to swith to verizon then.
Thank you.
Steve Austin: You are very welcome. Have a great day.
We value your business and thank you for visiting AT&T. You may click the close button to end your session.
Chat session has been terminated by the site operator.
He even shut the chat..

The only way mine works is...
I go to settings, try to turn on facetime over cellular, it gives me the "call att" message. Reboot phone and then it works, the slider switch it pushed in the on position.
BUT as soon as I get on wifi, it turns itself off...
Turning the WIFI back off, I head back over to facetime settings to re-enable over cellular date - FAIL "call att" message
This seems to be a bug in the software. At least on my phone. Can anyone else recreate this situation?Last edited by therandy; 11-21-2012 at 08:44 AM.

And unlike Anthony reports in the article -FaceBreak no longer works - at least not on 5.1.1 4S.. Cydia states incompatible.
