Twitter 5.1 for iOS Released With App Improvements and New Features
Just earlier tonight, Facebook launched version 5.2 of their iOS application with new features. Fortunately for us, it looks like Facebook isn’t the only major social networking site updating their mobile application with improvements for users – Twitter has just updated their iOS application too.
The update to the Twitter application brings the application to version 5.1 and it makes the application a lot more of a delight to use.
The Discover tab sees a nice improvement, as users can now view Tweets that are displayed differently for each individual user based on your unique interests on Twitter. Not only that, but they’re much prettier too, showing full image content and previews right in the stream without the need to actually tap on anything:
Search results are also much nicer in Twitter 5.1, as search results will yield a stream of relevant photos and media previews will be included instead of links that you have to tap on to view.
The update also makes the mobile version of the application more powerful, by giving users the ability to reset their Twitter account passwords right from the application if forgotten. You also now have control over who sees your protected Tweets from the mobile application, which is a huge plus.
Apart from the obvious, Twitter appears to have made just a few minor changes to the application, such as performance enhancements and bug fixes. We’ve also noticed that they have changed the way Retweets appear in your news feed – not only is the icon different, but the name of the person that Retweeted the story now appears above the actual Tweet rather than below it:
To download the update, you can head over the App Store and visit the Updates tab, or you can download the application for free from this link.
