iPhone 5 Cleared for Takeoff in China

The world's most populous mobile community is about to get the iPhone 5. According to the latest reports out of Asia, Apple is preparing to launch its red-hot refreshed smartphone inside of China in the coming days.

As of yesterday, China’s State Radio Management sanctioned the release of two iPhone 5 models – A1429, and A1442. The A1429 is compatible with China Unicom’s 3G network and China Mobile’s 2G network. Meanwhile, the A1442 model will work with China Telecom’s CDMA network.

Just last month, Apple's iPhone 5 jumped another hurdle when it received a China Compulsory Certificate approval. Without this, Apple would not have been able to release the iPhone 5 anywhere inside of China.

So now that the regulatory motions have been satisfied, when can we expect the iPhone 5 to go on sale there? Current plans call for the device to launch in China sometime in December.
