Apple Opens New Palo Alto Store

Apple’s new Palo Alto, California Apple Store opened it’s doors to a large crowd Saturday.
The 15,000 square foot store features the trademark all-glass front, while the rest of the single-story building looks like a tech-laden biergarten with tables of Apple products littering the floor instead of delicious hefeweizens and weizeneisbocks. .
The new location at 340 University DRive replaces the old Palo Alto location down the street famous for being Steve Jobs’ local Apple Store. Job’s would sometimes appear at the store during product launches including the debut of the iPad in 2010. In fact Steve Jobs was at the opening of the original Palo Alto store more than 11 years ago according to Steve Cano, Apple’s VP of stores worldwide.
The new store’s staff will number close to 150 compared to the 22 employees when Cano opened the old store down the street in 2001. The redesigned 360 degree Genius Bar is the largest out of the 16 Apple Stores in the Bay Area as well.
However, the most impressive aspect of the new store rests in the 250 odd steps it takes to walk from the old store to the new location. In those steps it’s easy to see just how far Apple has come in the past decade.

How strange it must be to stock a store with products that will only be current for days when the new products are released. The new iMac, new MacBook Pro 13" Retina, Mac mini, iPad 4th gen, and iPad mini...
Actually, I think some of those are available now, but some are coming around November 2 or some time in December.
