Apple to 'Shake' Things Up with iOS Printing Options
Can you imagine a "shake to print" option from Apple's iOS 6 or later? Based on a slate of new patent filings uncovered this week, Apple is exploring a host of new ways to deliver innovative printing options to iOS-powered devices.
"In some cases," one filing reads, "particular motions of the device can be associated with print settings. In a print settings mode, when the electronic device detects a motion of the device, the device can identify a print setting associated with the detected motion."
It is suggested that iDevices will enable printing of content in the same mode in which the content appears on the screen. That is, devices viewing a document in portrait mode will similarly have their document printed in the same mode.
Shaking, of course, isn't a new idea for Apple when it comes to delivering new functionalities. Between "Shake to Undo" and "Shake to Shuffle" features (and more), iOS users are already comfortable with shaking their device to achieve a desired effect. Printing may just be the latest to get the shake down, so to speak.

Do you really think Apple care for what its customers want? NOPE, they will add stupid things like shake to print before they add support for any network printer.

completely pointless. Thats the Apple way.
The world:"Can you print to any printer or adjust print settings?"
Apple:"no, but look at this flashy shake to print you can do"

I used truprint from when it came out till I bought my new £40 hp all in one that works with AirPrint! Must admit I would love to see apple allow connection to any wifi printer but would think the real issue is apple has been paid to keep it locked down to a select few and will be like that until the contract expires!

TruPrint is nice, though having support for printing via SMB (a printer shared via Windows, or Samba on Linux and UNIX systems.) Yes, people still use Windows printer sharing, especially in offices (in my line of work, I go to many different offices all the time and rarely see any where printers aren't just shared via a Windows server.)
