I'm first one to say things evolve such as connectors. People making comparisons to printers changing to USB are way off. Sorry, by the time the parallel port was dropped, every PC had USB. Oh and BTW, funnily enough USB ports are still around and still a standard interface(2.0 since 2000!), plus backwards compatible how many years later- oh wait, that's right there's going to be one on the other end of the new iPhone cable!! Plus, how often do you lug a printer around with you...hmmm better grab my dot matrix got print up some invoices on the road

You're acting as if you're being forced into a two cable scenario. I know Apple has good marketing but they aren't really forcing you to buy their products....are they? Are you the infamous Sheeple we hear about?

EDIT: I suppose the folks over at CNET and WSJ are also bunging on about nothing as well in the article they've written about how bad a decision the dock connector change is. Seems the commonsense aspects of peoples day to day need for connectivity isn't a foreign concept to either publication:
