Default Chitika: Apple Dominates Mobile Web Traffic with 65% Share

According to a recent report by Chitika, Apple devices currently account for over half of all mobile web traffic in the U.S. and in Canada. To be more specific, Apple’s share of web traffic on mobile devices grew from a whopping 63.75% to 65.03%, a value that is said to further increase with the introduction of an iPad mini and the next-generation iPhone.

Currently, Samsung is trailing behind in second place, with a distant 12.47% share. Chitika reports the following “With the iPhone and iPad, Apple dominates the mobile market when it comes to web usage. The company had another stellar month, and now its devices generate over 65% of all mobile traffic.” It’s not only Apple growing though, apparently Google and Samsung are also growing when it comes to mobile web traffic, but Apple just dominates everyone else at the moment.

Speculation points towards the iPad mini and the next-generation iPhone to undoubtedly increase Apple’s share of web traffic. The increased traffic seems inevitable as rumors report the smaller tablet to be priced more competitively allowing Apple to tap into a market previously untouched (low-end priced tablets). Furthermore, the soon-to-be released next-generation iPhone is also said to boost Apple’s share of mobile web usage. According to analysts, Apple is expected to sell a record of 22-23 million new iPhones this quarter alone, with the Cupertino California company selling roughly between 6 and 10 million next-gen iPhones during the first week of availability later this month.

We’ll have to wait and see how the future numbers turn out.

I would have to agree. Safari does everything I need it to do. And with out jail breaking and having the ability to change default browsers other browsers are pointless as you will still need to use safari.

Chrome on the s3 was good although I found the tab view a bit confusing.

I have to say that's just plain proof what phone dominates, period. Say what you want, I rarely use anything else but my phone for web browsing, if androids so good and there are so many android phones out there, why isn't this a closer race???
