WalMart To Deploy iPhone Scanning App for Improved Shopping Experience
Anyone who battled long lines and other associated delays at Walmart over this past Labor Day holiday weekend may have another mechanism at their disposal in the coming months to significantly reduce check-out times.
According to information gained exclusively and confidentially by Reuters, Walmart is now actively preparing a system that will allow shoppers to scan items using their iPhones. Once completed, the self-checkout process is a snap. All told, this arrangement reduces the time consumers are at the store while simultaneously cutting costs for the store.
If the "Scan & Go" test by the world's largest retailer is successful, it has the potential to change the way people shop and pay, making the process more personal and potentially faster.
For now, there is no estimated time frame for when Walmart may formally introduce the app. But it sounds like the official release may be coming soon.

Yup it's true. I work at Walmart. Apparently your iPhone app you can have a shopping list mark your items off. Will tell exactly where your item is in the store and give you a grand total. You will have to stop at a register scan thing though to pay and off you go

I'm living in Rogers, Arkansas and work at a Walmart DC and they have a few weeks trying the new system with some selected employees specially floor managers, I think the system is almost ready to public release in a few days due to the holidays season.
