Default Get a Smaller Notification Banner for the iPhone With 'MiniBanners'

If you remember Banners+ by Rudolf Lichtner and you liked how it brought Growl-like notifications to the iPad, then you will probably appreciate his newest creation – a free jailbreak tweak called MiniBanners that brings the same concept to mind on the iPhone and iPod touch. The difference in iOS 5 notification banners is illustrated above.

MiniBanners has no options to configure – instead, it takes over as soon as you install it. Banners will no longer appear Apple’s way and they will instead show up as Growl-like pop-up notifications that can be held down on with one finger to manually dismiss them. The other way to dismiss the pop-up is to open the application by tapping on the banner when it shows up.

The banner doesn’t show any message content. It’s made to use less screen space, so it only shows the essential information, such as the application icon and the sender’s name. If a sender’s name cannot be determined, the pop-up will show the name of the application that the alert is from, just like Apple’s notification banners do.

MiniBanners is going to be subjective because of how it looks. Some people really like Apple’s look more than a Growl-style interface, however some people are just the opposite. On the other hand, the pop-up notification uses a lot less real estate than Apple’s stock notification banners do and it’s free, so it’s worth giving a shot.

    Requirements: iOS 5

It's not too bad, I'm actually digging it due to the fact that it takes less bar space but only down fall is it don't show much but it's good for me. I like this tweak and currently using it.

Not small enough. Stock notifications are alright, but I believe they can be improved upon so the notification isn't so thick to take up as much space as it does. I believe the banner should be as thin as the status bar along with some sort of icon, but that's just me.

It would be useful if it was like GRIP that worked on IOS4 (Growl-like notifications).

These, like GRIP, need to be expandable notifications to be useful. 1-2 words isnt useful. If you clicked it once and it expanded to read the full text, and double clicked to open the corresponding app, then I'd install this.

I think this is already available in Springtomize 2 wherein you can reduce the size of the banner.

It doesn't seem to work with BiteSMS, and my other notifications aren't working with it as well.

    EDIT:
It doesn't work with Bulletin and BiteSMS and iRealSMS

I checked myself, and actually BiteSMS is compatible.
