Insider Claims iPhone 5 on Schedule for September Release Despite Component Shortages
Apple’s next generation iPhone will arrive earlier than last year’s 4S with a release date slated for sometime in September according to a new report by AppleInsider.
Recently reports of Apple’s iPhone 5 release time frame have indicated component supply shortages would push back the newly rumored September back. AppleInsider’s “trusted industry insider” claims that these shortages will not affect Apple’s supply chain, and to expect the sixth-generation iPhone in September after a increase in manufacturing earlier in the month.
Numbers wise, the source claims in-cell touch-panels produced by Sharp and LG could be tight due to small yield rates, but in combination with display maker JDI’s current stockpile, the number of panels available through the third quarter of 2012 will be between 14 and 18 million units. In other words, plenty of supply for an iPhone launch.
AppleInsider’s source confirms Apple’s supply chain indicates only two color-ways will be available (big surprise), and the leaked photos and mockups floating around are “very likely authentic.”
What is interesting, and will likely eventually prove if AppleInsider’s source is in fact real, is the description of a new heat dissipation and signal reception solution. The source claims Apple might include a Gorilla Glass inlay within the metal top and bottom of the uni-body iPhone design, effectively eliminating reception and heat issues.
If the recent rumors are true, expect the next six weeks crawl along at a snail's pace as every “expert” lends their hand at predicting what Apple’s new device will entail.

It looks so similar to the iPhone 4/4s. If it does not have amazing new features, I wont be buying it.

I really hope they blow me away with this new iPhone. I'm already not a huge fan of the 2-tone/colors

One of apples strategies is to take the rest of the phone resources leaving nothing for competitors call it selfish childish w/e but here in the real world that's just called business

Am I having déjà vu?? I SWEAR i heard all of these exact same comments before....
Oh wait, no...not déjà vu, just having a flashback of all the "I won't buy it" comments prior to the iPhone 4s release. Then it was released... and broke every sales record there is.El Zurdo

Lol that is true. But I'm also in that camp. This is the first time in 4 years that I will be honestly considering an alternative to the iPhone. The proposed specs on the next iPhone are everything I've wanted in the 4s that didn't happen. And frankly this 4s has been the worst iPhone I've ever owned, bugs, glitches, battery life, lack of changes,
horrendous crackle noises on calls. I will be patiently waiting to check out the windows 8 phones.

Thank you for referring to it as the iPhone 5! I love watching the "people that have nothing better to do than whine about the iPhone naming schemes" get their panties in a wad.

Regarding the actual device...can't wait for it. I'm due for an upgrade since I still have the 4. Plus, this iPhone is supposedly the last iPhone Steve Jobs worked on so I can't pass it up.

Here's my prediction:
-iPhone will look similar to the rumors
-Internals will be upgraded
-Specs will be lower than Android devices yet perform better
-People will complain...
-People will still buy it!!!
-Those that jump ship will return to the same iPhone they cried about

haha. Apple is kind of confident that no matter what they dish out, people will indeed buy
