Inkling Brings Interactive Ebooks to your iPhone
After coming out on top in the publishing industry by showing how interactive ebooks could be tackled on the iPad, Inkling seems to be expanding by focusing on achieving the same goal on the iPhone. Inkling 3.0 brings the company’s extensive library of digital books and guides to the iPhone and iPod Touch. The new comes just shortly after Inkling opened up its platform to the web, allowing anyone with a web browser to access its titles.
Although the iPhone’s 3.5-inch screen isn’t exactly fit for long reading sessions, the new app seems to be aimed for the release of the next-generation iPhone which is rumored to have a larger display (4-inches according to rumors and speculation). The company is currently boasting that more than 4,000 schools are using its platform for digital textbooks and the addition of iPhone support will give students less of an excuse for not doing their class reading. Furthermore, it also gives students the opportunity to refer to information found in books on the go.
The iPhone app seems to contain all of the features found in the iPad version, including real-time synchronization for highlights and bookmarks, reading assessments, and an interface optimized for the smaller display. The iPhone Inkling app also gives users the option to download individual chapters from books, preventing users from having to waste space storing an entire title.
For those of you who currently use Inkling, it may be worth checking out and for those of you who enjoy reading on the iPhone, it is something for you to look into.
