New iPod Touch to Adopt Alleged iPhone 5 Form Factor

Apple is planning to release a next generation iPod touch this fall to match the iPhone 5’s re-design according to Macotakara.
The taller iPod nano will feature a four-inch display, the A5 processor from the current iPhone 4S, and be complete with a rear shell similar to the iPads. The new back would be a welcome addition considering the iPod’s traditionally “chrome” back attracts scratches and scuffs like bears to nicotine laced honey.
The report also claims a hole is present toward the bottom back of the device, although its function is unknown. The redesigned iPod touch will reportedly be accompanied by a redesigned iOS based iPod nano as well. Apple’s entire line of iDevices will feature some sort of redesign this year if the rumors prove true, even if the iPad 3’s was negligible aesthetically.
Apple's big year is looking to only get bigger, but the larger question revolving around the future of the iPad still is in question. How many more iterations of the music player that started it all will Apple produce? Will there come a time when the iPod ceases to be worth Apple's time? Or is development as easy as rehousing year-old iPhone technology minus the cellular components?

The taller iPod nano?* Well if this is true, I hope this comes out around September-October.

I believe "The taller iPod nano" is a typo..must have meant iPod Touch. I don't think the iTouch will ever lose its popularity. Parents usually get their kids the nano or the touch as a starter iOS device. You know like a test..to see how they handle it. They can then graduate to a phone/iPad..makes sense to keep it around, especially if Apple is still making $$ off of it.

The RAM in the i5 is supposed to be a gig.. If the iPhone can handle it then the iPod touch should be able to. I mean the iPod hasn't gotten an upgrade in years, so apple may consider adding a gig. (instead of adding 512mb last year, they decided to wait and maybe add a gigabyte?) I don't know.
