Default 'PhotoExif' Shows You Your Photos' Information In Detail

iOS doesn’t exactly show you all the information about a photograph that you take. Professional photograph software like Adobe Photoshop or Apple Aperture will show you a whole lot more information about the photograph such as what device it was taken on, the dimensions, and the aperture value. If you want iOS to show you more information about each photograph you take, then check out a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed PhotoExif by iOS developer ioshack.

PhotoExif adds a new button to the Action Menu from your Photos application. To access it, tap on one photograph in your Camera Roll to enlarge it, tap the Action button, and tap on the new “Exif Info” button at the bottom of the list. Tapping on it will show you the photograph's Exchangeable Information File – a file that can be stored in JPEG, RAW, and TIFF photograph formats to show more information about the photograph.

The prompt that comes up will show you some useful information such as:
    • Color format
    • Depth
    • Length and Width
    • Aperture
    • Date taken
    • Shutter speed
    • White balance
    • Model of camera it was taken with
    • Resolution
    • Much more

Exif information is often used to help identify digital photographs on a computer. It can be easily viewed from computer file browsers like Windows Explorer and Mac’s Finder. It's probably only useful to a handful of people, however the information is always nice to have, especially for professional photographers that understand what the values mean more so than average iOS users. If you're just a curious mind that wants to explore your photographs' Exif information, give this free tweak a try.

The tweak could easily be made better by displaying the information in a cleaner fashion, maybe by bolding the information labels followed by a colon followed by the value, instead of showing you the raw information code. The tweak has no options to configure.

This would actually be useful if it would edit and delete the exif info so you're not sharing it when you share the photos: Fail.
