[GIVEAWAY]Glow Tech LED Glow Kit Review
Glow Tech’s LED Apple Logo kit is a newer entry into the iPhone 4/4S glowing logo kit market. Co-Founder Tyler Shick kindly supplied ModMyi with a review kit and a few to giveaway (more details on that later).
The kit retails for $59.99 and includes:
- Black/White Back Panel
- LED Light Pad
- Pentalobe Screwdriver
- Phillips Screwdriver
- 3M Foam Tape (2)
- Light Diffuser
- Glue Dot

Everything is neatly packed in a small box with protective foam inserts. The inclusion of both pentalobe and Phillips head screwdrivers is a huge plus. For those unaware, most iPhone 4 models and most of Apple’s new products use ridiculous proprietary pentalobe screws in their devices as a means to deter owners from modifying their products.
Glow Tech's website has a complete 15-step walk-through of how to install the glow kit, as well as video walk-through which proved incredibly helpful. Anyone who has previously opened up their iDevice knows the process isn’t for the faint of heart or larger human beings (which I am). Thanks to my large ogre-hands I managed to “misplace” one of the screws on the bottom of my iPhone 4.
However, I was still able to finesse my away around the inside of the iPhone and secure the LED Light Pad in place. The kit essentially works by drawing power from the LCD. so any time you click your screen on, the LED light turns on. It’s simple, effective, but because of all the small parts involved tricky to install.
Glow Tech claims you can install the LED in 15 minutes, and I’m sure normal sized people can, but I needed a little extra time to make sure I handled the small pieces of foam tape right, as well as positioned the LED light pad right. Note, there is a slight trick to positioning the LED pad right. I somewhat goofed up the foam tape pad used to secure the power connector, and every time I pushed the iPhone 4 back plate into position it would pull the LED light pad down ever so slightly and disconnect it from the power supply. I simply pushed the strip farther up above the connector so when I pulled the back plate into place it dragged the power connector into place. Just something to keep in mind.
Overall, the install is straight forward, the result eye-catching, and the value extremely good considering you get the LED light pad, two screwdrivers, and an entirely new iPhone 4/4S back plate made of real glass just like the one on your phone right now.
Now, as for the giveaway, two winners will be chosen. To be eligible all you need to do is follow both @ModMyi and @startglowing on Twitter, and share this story in a tweet with the hashtag #glowgiveaway. If you don’t have a twitter, share this story on your FaceBook wall while mentioning Glow Tech’s fan page or the Modmyi fanpage in the post so we can keep track of everyone who enters.Last edited by Phillip Swanson; 06-26-2012 at 11:08 AM.

Hmmm. I wonder how many people will mess their phones up with this kit. I bought the last light mod kit that Modmyi featured and it was a train wreck. The glass on the rear face plate cracked since it was so thin. Not like the one you have on your phone as it mentions above, Wires were so fragile it rendered the LED inoperable, Fitment issues with rear plate, so many stories of people loosing key features on their phones, etc...
So just make sure you weigh out the risks of breaking your expensive phone vs. having a light on the rear of it before wasting your hard earned money.

+1
I'm one that bought that last mod featured here but after seeing all the disasters others had trying to install it that thing sat in its box never to touch my precious iPhone. I think I'll wait a while and see how many folks have issues with this one before potentially wasting another $50-$60.

We haven't had any complaints yet! Check out our installation page, and you'll see there's no more wires! Our rear panel is made up of 100% glass.
