How to Get An iOS 6 Style Twitter Widget On Your iOS 5 Device

One feature of iOS 6 that stands out is the new widget that includes a tap to Tweet (Twitter) and tap to Post (Facebook) functionality. If you want this feature on your jailbroken iOS 5 device, you can do so now with a new free jailbreak widget called iOS 6 Twitter Widget for Notification Center by iOS developer Mathieu Hendey.

The widget was made to mimic the appearance of the iOS 6 widget, however it is made only for Twitter as iOS 5 doesn’t come with Facebook integration – because of this, the widget spans completely across Notification Center with only Twitter in mind. Another noticeable difference between this mockup and the real thing is that iOS 6 uses Twitter’s old logo and this jailbreak widget for iOS 5 uses Twitter’s new logo.

When you tap on the widget from Notification Center, it will bring up the familiar iOS 5 Tweeting prompt that we all know and love. The widget relies directly on iOS 5’s Twitter integration, so as soon as you tap Send, the Tweet will appear in your Twitter feed:



You will need to have iOS 5 installed to use this widget since it requires both Notification Center and Twitter integration to function. You can enable or disable the widget on demand by dragging it in and out of Notification Center from the Notifications preferences pane in the Settings application.

Haven't there been other twitter widgets? What makes them different from this one? I think there's been better looking ones from the jailbreak community than the ones in iOS 6. Just my 2 cents

It helps make Notification Center look like iOS 6 and it's free. Good Widget.

I did actually shell out 10 bones for intelliscreenx but after a couple of weeks I only use it for the messages+...

That's what I would like to know. I could care less about twitter but one for FaceBook would be splendid.

I do use a tweak called fusion right now. U can set it to activator and also set it to only update Facebook.

HA... good post but... I been using that for awhile now... and with dashboard X, it's right on my SB. Btw, tell me u know u can post to FB on iOS 5... right? and Foursquare or even MyasS (ahem) MySpace... if u dont' know how... search Fusion in Cydia.

I have dashboardx also, what are you saying is right on your SB? I honestly didn't understand what you are referring too.... I don't use four square, twitter, just Facebook. I know fusion can be used for others. Just don't really understand what you meant with the iOS 5..??
