I can understand maybe WP9 and beyond, but give your product some growing room for crying outloud!! WP7.5 - WP7.8 is not acceptable as a complete product lifespan and has guaranteed that I won't own a Windows Phone ever again

As others have stated, I'm happy to see Microsoft thinking outside the box...finally!!! I'm looking forward to playing w/ a WP8 when it's released.
Will I buy one...prolly not. I'm very happy w/ iPhones.
Do I like the direction MS is headed? Definitely!!!
I look forward to seeing Apple challenge MS and give us what we expect from them!!!

How is apple releasing a new OS and hardware catered around it every year different? Yeah they give you updates to the new iOS but like from the 4 to 4s siri was an iPhone 4s only thing you. Your phone will still get updated but it won't have the extra stuff like Multi-core support...

Microsoft usually does have some good ideas..they wouldn't still be here if the didn't. The phone is decent but not revolutionary. My question is this, how many applications do I have to choose from? 100,000..500,000>>?? I think not! More like 25,000 and that's the problem. As good as the phone may be, if MS and its 3rd party support do not have valid (i need to have ) applications, the phone will fail just like Windows Phone 7 and its Mango update. Im still not convinced they will take over anything. They may compete a bit but no take over here. One thing i do like is the 3 model choices(im sure they will have different price points) good for the consumer. We shall see if MS can compete with Apple and Android..time will tell :]

Actually Microsoft made quite a big thing at the conference about there being 100,000 apps available on the store. Sure, it's not 500,000, but it's still a heck of a lot.
Of course they will be. If Nokia's financial situation was so dire that they couldn't afford to continue any longer than September/October this year (so very unlikely), Microsoft would bail them out.

Sadly, Microsoft is much worse - which is suprising, because I never would have imagined any company could be worse than Apple when it comes to planned obsolescence.
The iPhone 3GS, 4, and 4S will be getting iOS 6. If Apple had been like Microsoft, then it would be like when iOS4 came out, 3GS users couldn't upgrade to it, or when iOS5 came out, iPhone 4 users couldn't upgrade to it, and when iOS6 comes out, 4S users can't upgrade to it. Oh sure, Apple drops features, which I hate, but Microsoft is dropping "old" devices from ENTIRE OS UPDATES! Not only is that bad for consumers, but it's bad for the environment. We're already a society that generates a ridiculous amount of tech waste, and Microsoft isn't helping.
I think it's sad, because I've played around with WP7.5 on a spare HTC HD2 and I actually really like it. What few apps there are for Windows Phone, look a lot slicker than their iOS and Android counterparts. I have seriously considered switching to Microsoft, but if this is their attitude, then hell no! In fact, I hope the analysts are wrong and Windows Phone becomes a total failure.

I hear ya!
Let's, hypothetically, give MS the benefit of the doubt. Is it possible that MS might be trying to 'start over' in a sense w/ WP8 as their new platform. Let's say, WP7.5 was their 'beta' and now 8 will be their backbone.
It's possible that they 'might' not follow Google or Apple and try to make all their WP8 devices upgradable no matter how old it is.
Again..hypothetical...benefit of the doubt! LOL!
