That Straight Talk and Even T-Mobile Pre-Paid all sound like good options. I would be looking to use a GSM version but definitely worth looking into.
Thanks for all this info everyone

    Great.

A PC has even better specs than a phone. Doesn't mean it's a better phone.

Not everything is black and white. Much more to life than 'specs'. Design, service, usability, apps, community, etc etc etc.

I have a Verizon iPad and use Talkatone as my phone and can download apps or browse the Internet while talking on the phone. Are Verizon iPhones different in some way? I do understand that I am running two "apps". But is there a diffence? This is all on 3G with wifi turned off.

This is an embarrassment to T-Mobile for sure, CricKet get's the iPhone? LOL, that company is ghetto fabulous and only drug dealers and pimps use their service so they can get rid of phones quickly if need be, totally embarrassing!

On the other hands, that 55 dollar unlimited plan is going to KILL the competition...I can't wait to see this go down.

One question though, does CricKet only do non-contract or can you do a contract and get the phone for a huge discount like the other carriers do? If you have to pay retail and have no choice, that's gonna be tough on some folks but still, that monthly plan is a killer deal! Now, can their network actually support this or are they going to turn into Sprint with 0.25kbps download speed?
    "Don't hold it like that!"

    "Great."
Now you're comparing pc's to a smartphone. That makes sense.
as for specs i mean processors, display, battery life, camera, performance etc. But there is no way anyone can call the iPhone the best smartphone, even I know this, and i LOVE iOS.

That's a great price for an unlimited plan wonder if the data speeds are Sprint like or not. I own a factory unlocked iPhone 4 GSM so I wonder if I could just put one of their sim cards in and go cause that is less than half of what I pay on AT&T.

You obviously didn't read what I said.
I know that LTE and CDMA are to different frequencies and radio chip sets.

I clearly stated that those devices work with talk and web on BOTH the LTE and CDMA. Meaning that even on the 3G network only IE like cricket if you had it flashed you would still get TALK and WEB at the same time. Because the device has to radio chipsets built in to do this. So yes you can in fact have VOICE and WEB on CDMA. One chipset to handle voice + text, the other chipset to handle Data. Its all about if the manufacture wants to do that or not.

The iPhone is the best smartphone ever. See? Someone can say it!
But seriously, it's all preference. I say my iPhone is "better" than any other phone on the market. But that's just my opinion. It's my choice to use my iPhone over some droid or blackberry. I don't care about the specs, mine works, it's fast and efficient, and it works well between all my Macs and PCs. Therefore, to me, it's the best phone out there!

How in the hell does a pre paid phone cost $55 a month? Hello, I'm pre paid on tmobile and I only purchase minutes when I need them. I don't have them forced down my throat. What the heck would be the point in a pre paid phone if I have to buy minutes every month? Duh.

No its not a first!!! but it is a first to get data included< no other carrier gives data at all unless you do something to the phones vpn or apn something like changing the numbers, idk but this does sound intriguing, i only wish i didnt have att gsm right now or i would be all over that if i had cdma!!!!

WOW!! is that a fact!! i didnt know that as i have gsm att>>

its safe to say that within a few years they will all have unlimited pre-paid plans when i first got my iphone i heard about the att prepaid but you dont get data just talk and text and you would need to be home or wherever you get wiFi to get on the web... and the customer service lady said that att was working on a data plan for prepaids but she wasnt sure when cause the word was that att wasnt able to decide on a right price for them not to lose and for it to be cheaper for us as not to pay 100 bucks a month...but this was over a year ago and still dont see talk, text and data plan for att prepaid...

AWS-only markets are SOL, according to the list of cities offering the phone initially. Future gens might be a different story.

Too bad one probably won't be able to use a Cricket iPhone 4/S in Vegas or Chicago or the other half dozen AWS-only areas.

Well crickets data comes from sprint and the 55 a month unlimited they have offered on android phones works ok. I always wondered about taking a 4S and having cricket service. But I'm on a tmobile 45 a month unlimited everything plan and the only difference to me would be the faster speed. Which to save battery I would more than likely turn off lol

Silly rabbits. H2O wireless. $60 no contract, prepaid runs off At&t's network, 3G, no need to unlock for unlimited talk and text plus 2gb of data.

You can get unlimited talk, text and edge with Simple Mobile for $40.
