[Review] Reveal - Longer Notification Views for iOS
For those of you that hate being limited to Apple’s tedious iOS rules, iOS designer Joshua Tucker and iOS developer Conrad Kramer have teamed up to create a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Reveal that ultimately gives you the ability to see the entirety your notification messages instead of just a small portion as Apple normally limits you to. The tweak operates in three ways, depicted by the screenshots above, in lock screen view, lock screen bubbles, and with iOS 5’s notification banners.
To make a larger portion of your notification visible than what is already shown on the lock screen (with the Reveal jailbreak tweak installed), you simply have to tap on a notification and iOS will display the notification in its entirety. For lock screen bubble notifications, a scroll bar will appear for all notifications, allowing you to scroll up and down to read the entire notification. Lastly, iOS 5 banner notifications can be scrolled side-to-side to read the entire message, however they will still disappear if you leave them untouched for a few seconds.
Not all applications will be able to display their entire notification with Reveal. Apple’s server limits third party applications to 256 characters, while that of Apple’s stock applications are all limitless. All of the stock applications will be capable of maximizing characters such as the Messages application shown above on the lock screen view, however applications like Twitter or Facebook will continue to be limited on the lock screen view. Since the limit is on the server-side, the limit for third party applications is out of the developers' control.
Reveal can be useful if you are one of many that likes to see what a message is about before you use your time digging into your iPhone to read and reply to it. Since it helps you get a better understanding of your notifications before you react to them, it can be a time-saver. There are no options to configure for Reveal, as its functionality is immediately put into effect upon installation.

The return of Mr Tucker!
Scrollable banners are great. Just like the iPod app.

The scrolling is interesting. Message+ can really use that.
