Siri For Dummies Book Really Exists

The Popular “For Dummies” instructional book series now has a Siri-centered entry for those struggling to communicate with Apple’s personal assistant.

The book is perfect if you lack deductive reasoning. The book contains eye-opening nuggets of information like:

● Shows you how to use Siri to keep your calendar, remind you of appointments, and check your messages
● Explains using Siri to get directions, play your favorite music, make phone calls, search the web, and even provide the weather report
● Offers helpful tips on how to use your voice to write an e-mail, create a text, add a note, and more with Siri and the iPad's new Voice Dictation feature
● Explores some fun things to ask Siri and reveals some surprise Siri secrets
● Includes coverage of Siri for iPhone 4S and Voice Dictation for the new iPad

Sometimes it amazes me books like this exist. Props to Marc Saltzman for being the first to either underestimate human intelligence or overestimate human stupidity. Saltzman hosts CNN’s Tech Time, which leads me to believe he’s received a rash of emails, tweets or other computer mediated messages inquiring about how to use Siri. Sometimes I forget how spoiled we writers here at MMi actually are. We worry about setting up Siri proxies, and authentication codes instead of how to set an alarm.

Actually, let's compile a list of other more useful things you could do with $7.99 or $5.99, like say light the dollar bills on fire and melt the coins into bullets. Or buy that alcohol infused whipped cream you’ve always wanted to. Or buy a Teck-Deck. Or a hamster. Then film the hamster riding the Teck-Deck.

... I understand where you're coming from but I don't think you realize how much this helps people like me. I don't need it but I know to many people that rely on me to do all their phone work for them;p

My coworker, a very old lady, bought this book as well as iPhone 4s For Dummies. I just think it's cool that she has an iPhone. She retires in August, I'm sure she'll use it a lot

Siri is not that difficult, you definitely don't need a book to tell you how to use it! Activate Siri, tell her what you want, listen to results.

Some people just don't understand Siri's capabilities. My old coworker asked me how to set an appointment, so I picked up her phone and told Siri to set the appointment. Then I asked my coworker when she wanted to be reminded, so I told Siri that, and everything worked out great. Siri can do a lot
