[Review] Giffy - Enable Animated GIF Images From the Camera Roll
How often do you save a hilarious .gif image from Mobile Safari and find yourself unable to watch it animate from the Camera Roll? It is indeed a sad, sad day when we cannot recreate the hilarious animation once we save it. Fortunately, there is a new jailbreak tweak in Cydia today dubbed Giffy by iOS developer IanP and it's going to change the way iOS handles .gif images.
First thing is first – go to Safari and find yourself a super funny .gif image, like the dancing banana above. Hold down on it and then tap on, “Save Image” to send it to your Camera Roll. After you have installed Giffy, you will be able to see your .gif image animating right from your Camera Roll without the need to upload it to a hosting site and see it in Safari. Interestingly, the .gif images are actually faster when in the Camera Roll than they are in Mobile Safari.
Not only can you see the .gif images animating in the Camera Roll, but any other application with an image picker such as the Messages application will also display the .gif image animating. This gives you the ability to actually watch animated .gifs when people message them to you though iMessage or MMS and when you are the one dishing them out instead of just seeing a non-animated preview image.
These .gif images can be added to the Camera Roll either by Mobile Safari, saving an image from an iMessage or MMS, saving them from an e-mail, or even adding them manually though your computer. No matter how they are imported to your iOS device, Giffy will be able to view and play your animated .gif image.
Giffy works exactly as advertised and it is seamlessly integrated into iOS. If you don’t think you will ever be dealing with .gif images on your iOS device, then you probably will not need Giffy. On the other hand, if you want your iOS device to be able to do something it couldn’t do before, Giffy could make an excellent addition.

A dollar seems like a lot for this kind of tweak only in the face of other tweaks that are free and offer more important purposes. That being said, it always bugged me that my gifs don't move so I'm gonna buy it.
EDIT: Working ONLY on gifs saved with Safari, though it clearly states here, and in the Cydia app description, that you can use any app to import them into the camera roll.

If you don't feel like doing that, you can also request a refund via your payment method (PayPal or Amazon).

Hi, I'm the developer of this.
I'm assuming you used iTunes to sync a GIF. This is not possible, and there is nothing you can do to change that. iTunes automatically strips gifs and converts them into jpgs upon syncing.
As long as an image is inside the camera roll/photo library and is a real gif, this app will work.
