[Review] FastLock - Lock Screen Shortcuts
In iOS, everything is laid out for you on the home screen of the operating system, although sometimes we demand even easier access to common system events. For this, we turn to jailbreaking. A new jailbreak tweak dubbed FastLock by iOS developer Pigi Galdi hopes to make system events easier to access by adding shortcuts to the lock screen of your iOS device. The screenshots above show you the neat-looking interface that looks like it were made by Apple themselves.
FastLock adds all of the following functions to your lock screen:
- Place a call
- Send a message
- Send an email
- Add a contact
- Add a note
- Set an alarm or timer
- take a photo
The interface is scrollable, meaning you can easily find exactly what you want to do. The buttons are all common things most iPhone owners would want to do. Pigi made sure the buttons didn’t contain extraneous things iPhone owners wouldn’t want to use, because this would cause a cluttered interface and no one likes unnecessary clutter.
To use FastLock, you need to double-press the home button while on the lock screen. Thanks to the transparent interface, you get the button functionality while still being able to see your lock screen wallpaper. The buttons will not bypass your pass code, meaning you can rely on the tweak for being secure. What is redundant is having the camera option on the lock screen twice, since iOS 5 has the camera button or the camera grabber. However, FastLock is iOS 4-compatible too, so it gives the iOS 4 users something they couldn't get without iOS 5. Taking this into consideration, Pigi made the camera shortcut the last one on the list to get it out of the way.
FastLock has no options to configure – you simply install it and you’re ready to start using it. Everything works exactly how you would expect it to and it looks great. It works with other lock screen tweaks such as Camera Grabber for iOS 5 and Stride. If you like having your iPhone functions easy to get to, then give Pigi's FastLock a try.

Just installed it. It really has the perfect choices. I think with the ability to rearrange them it'd be a 5/5 tweak.

This works fine. Best part is that it is low on resources giving a swift performance.

I was really excited about this tweak, until I read you cant rearrange the options or delete ones you dont use.
I dont use twitter, so wouldn't want the tweet slider on the lockscreen. However I frequently write notes, so would want this option first.
Developer needs to fix these two issues, then I will buy.

I really like the idea of this. Would this work with IntelliscreenX installed?

I'm sure the developer is reading this review and I also think the abilities mention would get me to buy in. One of the main reasons would be that not everyone uses some of the features and there is clearly in the second picture a redundant feature, "take a photo". The option is already present with iOS5. (I know its good for earlier version of OS, just saying by being able to remove is a big plus with ios5)
look to be a great tweak!Hit the thanks button if I helped in any way

I also like the idea of this app, however like most users, I'm concerned with security. While FastLock does not circumvent the pass lock code, it appears that it allows anyone in possession of the iPhone to use the displayed events. Is an unauthorized user able to make calls, send emails, access Notes already written, access Contacts, Tweets, and Photos.? If so, I'll pass on this one.
