Default [Review] Aero - A New Way to Multitask On iOS

While the iOS multasking App Switcher is very neat and orderly, some developers have been working on a new jailbreak tweak to let you multitask in ways you could have never imagined. The tweak, dubbed Aero by iOS development team SBCoders – the same team that brought us Deck, brings us new animations, effects, and a better experience – all without slowing down your iDevice. The above screenshots are examples of two of the different multitasking effects you can have with Aero.

After a quick beta run, the tweak has become rock solid with butter-smooth animations and quick rendering. Aero doesn’t replace the App Switcher unless you choose to have Aero overwrite the App Switcher when you double-press the home button from Activator – yes Aero is activated with Activator. More of Aero’s options are shown below in the screenshot of its preferences pane located in the Settings application:

Apart from choosing your Activator action, which will invoke Aero, you can also pick from other options which are explained below:
    • Overlay Mode – puts Aero over the application you're in with a dim effect instead of the linen background
    • Small Icons – shrinks the application icons to make them less fuzzy on retina displays
    • Animation – allows you to change the Aero animation to:
      • Linear
      • CoverFlow
      • Rotary
      • Wheel
      • Wheel (Alternate)
      • Cylinder
      • Time Machine
      • Time Machine (Alternate)
      • Time Machine (Alternate 2)
    • Background – if you have Overlay Mode off, you can pick between the following backgrounds:
      • Linen
      • Showcase
    • Icon Reflection – allows you to have application icon reflections in Aero similar to the reflection on docked icons
    • Wrap Enabled – allows infinite scrolling through Aero, removing the effect making you have to scroll back and forth
    • Verical Mode – puts Aero on a vertical axis instead of a horizontal axis

It should be noted that while in vertical mode, the application labels you see in the first screenshot of this review would not be visible. That is a horizontal-mode feature only. Additionally, to reduce lag we suggest keeping Icon Reflection disabled. Apart from the noticeably fuzzy icons on the retina display – this is due to limitations of icon availability for the size used in Aero – the tweak has a great look and a diverse library of customization options for the end user. I couldn't find any bugs while using Aero.

If you're looking for a cool new multitasking interface, then give Aero a try. I could recommend it to anyone trying to escape iOS's stock look, however it does not work on the iPad!

Just installed it...REALLY good!! The one suggestion i have is to add the ability to tap the screen (background) to close the switcher to get back to what you were doing, instead of having to press the home button.

Small icons are the way to go in my opinion. They really aren't small at all, they are slightly oversized icons. I think calling Aeros default icons large would have made a lot more since.

Love the tweak though, highly recommend it! Whoever these guys r, they r making some amazing tweaks, Deck, and now this...Apple might be doing some hiring soon!

    This is very awesome indeed!

My only suggestion is to include an option for a "kill all processes" icon.

I can't get some apps to appear in app switcher such as cydia. When I have cydia open it is in the switcher but when I leave cydia it doesn't show up.
