[Review] LockDate - Customize Your Lock Screen Date
If you dislike the way iOS sets your date for you on the lock screen under the digital clock, then a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed LockDate by iOS developer Arash Amini will let you customize how it displays. It comes with deep preference pane options for setting it exactly the way you want it to:
From the main menu of the preferences pane made available to you in the Settings application after installing LockDate, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand as well as navigate the preference panes for the text appearance of the date on your lock screen.
The first pane, Text, allows you to change the way the appearance of the date. This pane comes packed with the ability to enable and disable the text effects themselves. It also gives you the power to tape or swipe to change between date views (shown in the .gif image above) and adjust the date format. This pane also gives you the ability to choose between all of the following settings:
- -3 Days
- -2 Days
- -1 Day
- No correction
- +1 Day
- +2 Days
- +3 Days
In addition to changing the formats, you can go a step further and adjust the color of the text and change the drop shadow color. You can enable and disable each color setting and you have the following color choices for both the text and the drop shadow:
The last pane in the settings for LockDate allows you to change the font style. You cannot change to different fonts from this menu, however you can make the text bold, italic, or normal and use the slider to adjust how emphasized you want your font style to be. The switch at the top of the settings allows you to enable and disable this option on demand.
When youíve went through and played with the preferences a little bit, you can have a customized date appearance on your lock screen like the example below:
Since the tweak only adjusts the date below the digital clock and not the digital clock too, the difference in appearance of the two sets of text will feel awkward. That being said, a major detail was left out in the development of this tweak. If you donít adjust the appearance of the date, but you choose to simply adjust how the date appears instead of day, month date format, then you will probably appreciate the tweak more.
Unless you have a problem with the appearance of your date on the lock screen, then you probably won't find this tweak useful. The extra customization is always welcome, however. If you want to give this tweak a try, it is free so give it a shot.

Have to agree, love the concept, but it would be better if it changed the clock and date as far as fonts and colors are concerned
