Apple: Person to Download the 25 Billionth App Gets A $10k Gift Card

With the App Store being a hefty part of Apple’s revenue, they do everything that they possibly can to drive purchases, even if it means giving away a $10,000 App Store gift card. As Apple has done in the past with reaching a download milestone in the App Store, they are equipped to award the 25,000,000,000th application downloader with the major accolade.

As of today, nearly 25 billion apps have been downloaded worldwide. Which is almost as amazing as the apps themselves. So we want to say thanks. Download the 25 billionth app, and you could win a US$10,000 App Store Gift Card. Just visit the App Store and download your best app yet.

To be the winner of the contest for the $10,000 App Store gift card, you need to either download the 25 billionth application or you can opt to fill out the alternative entry form. Whichever comes first; the 25 billionth download, or the entry form being filled out immediately after the counter reaches 24,999,999,999 downloads will decide who gets the App Store gift card. The entry form is intended for people without an Apple ID that want to participate, but technically speaking, you can use the alternate form even if you have an Apple ID. You are limited to filling out the entry form to just twenty-five times per day and you must be thirteen years of age or older to enter.

The event mirrors the giveaway that Apple hosted when they were stimulating us to download the 10 billionth App Store application a little over a year ago. To think that Apple has grown from just 10 billion downloads to 25 billion downloads in that amount of time is a very large step forward.

Sure there could. While highly unlikely, it's always possible for two people to download at exactly the same instance in time.

$10,000 in apps?

That's a ridiculously stupid prize. It'd be like getting a $10,000 gift certificate to the dollar store. You'd just have a fart load of useless crap.

If it can be used in the Apple Store then it'd be worth something.

It will be useable in all of the iTunes-based stores.

Well i liekd the idea of android more where htey jsut had 10 days 10 apps a day for 10 cent each for EVRYONE, and those were some of the highest quality apps on the platform so you were just buying quality. now you're just reading an appstore add

It's credit for the APP STORE - use it on ANYTHING you want; books, movies, songs, etc...
