Halliburton Gives BlackBerry a Crude Awakening
One of the biggest names in energy is bidding farewell to the BlackBerry. Halliburton is beginning a "corporate transition" away from the struggling RIM product and embracing Apple's iOS platform.
"Over the next year, we will begin expanding the use of our mobile technology by transitioning from the BlackBerry (RIM) platform that we currently use to smartphone technology via the iPhone," the company told its employees in an electronic communication circulated internally this month.
Halliburton, however, didn't reach the decision lightly. The company claims to have performed extensive research into the attributes of competing platforms, including devices powered by Google's Android operating system. Ultimately, the corporate giant "determined that the iOS platform offered the best capabilities, controls and security for application development."
BlackBerry has been the company's official mobile device for more than a decade. "Approximately 4,500 Halliburton employees currently have BlackBerrys," a company rep told Apple Insider Monday, adding that the transition is taking place "in order to better support our mobile applications initiatives."
Rolling out the iPhone 4S to Halliburton employees could take upwards of two years - or, you know, right about when the iPhone 4S will be so outdated that it may need to be replaced by another new iPhone

Blackberry is on its way out and has been since 2007! (The year of the iPhone)
That sat on their collective arses and hoped they longevity of their product would outlive the iPhone. WRONG.

Further evidence RIM is dead. (Not that we really need more evidence)

They've made a good choice, in with the best (Apple iOS) and out with the bad (BlackBerry RIM). I've noticed a lot of companies making the switch and everyone seems happy with it.

As if RIM didn't see this one coming. Innovate and keep up or get out of the way.

Such a waist of time writing this as miss "T" is already a biautch lol. But I can't help.
I feel bad for you.
You must be very unhappy to continuously diss this helpful site.
T my friend, you and that iPhone you wished you had are so jealous that it allows too much free time.
Yes you are quite the site critic, and yes I laugh at you every time I see your name.
Put down the pipe and come back to this life.
Miss "T", I would enjoy hearing what you had to say when your in your right mind. However your deluded intelligents and random patterns of strange thought are amusingly disturbing. Quite the same as my poor handicap brother.
I don't think this site sucks but 'Ya Know.
Thanks 'Miss T' or Misty for short.
You are truely a douche.
