[Review] MissionControl - A Menu of Useful Shortcuts
Add a useful shortcuts list to your iOS device.
There is asbolutely no denying that finding settings or looking for apps on your SpringBoard becomes cumbersome. We look at jailbreaking for solutions to making using our iDevices easier. One great new jailbreak application which has been dubbed MissionControl by iOS developer coffeejay allows you to access multiple shortcuts by invoking an Activator action, which can be chosen by you. The list of shortcuts is as follows:
- Cancel - exit MissionControl
- Wifi Settings - shortcut to Wi-Fi settings in Settings application
- Sms - quickly compose a text message or iMessage
- Mail - quickly compose a new email
- Twitter - shortcut for launching Twitter application, Tweetbot application, or Twitter Web site
- Facebook - shortcut for launching Facebook application or Facebook Web site
- Cydia - shortcut for launching Cydia application
- Respring - tapping this will restart your SpringBoard
- Open URL - allows you to enter a URL to open in Mobile Safari
- Dev - shortcut for contacting the developer through Twitter
As you can see from the image above, the application is not only useful, but it looks very nice graphically. You can set any Activator action that you want to toggle it (double-tapping the status bar in my case). It's a great quick menu for some useful functions on the iDevice that many of us use on a daily basis. It doesn't replace toggle applications - it's not that kind of shortcut application. It's strictly for getting to things easier. It doesn't have any support for most of the things that SBSettings or other alike applications can do whatsoever.
One thing that I am not so sure that I like is having to tap the 'Cancel' button to close out of MissionControl. I would much prefer pressing the home button. It feels more natural to do so. Although, I did a test and tried it and as it turns out, MissionControl is simply an overlay that sits on top of what is really going on in the background. If you press the home button while you're in it, you will exit the application that you're currently in, or if you're on your home screen it will take you to Spotlight even while MissionControl remains open.
There are no settings to configure except for changing your Activator action for invoking MissionControl. It isn't laggy and no extra icons are added to the home screen. You will like it if you're an iDevice power user that frequently does more than one thing at once and needs speedier ways to do them.

Between IntelliScreenX and Noti. Center I'm covered but this looks like a nice tweak. Actions within Categories and category (or whatever metaphor) menus would be awesome.@Metaserph"You can only attain Peace through spreading Love to create Unity and earn the Respect of others" - Complex Simplicity

I wish this replaced the volume slider in the app switcher

Wow... Looks like a very useful app. Now that i, and i suppose most of us, think about it, it seems a bit suprising that we have not seen something similar to this yet.
Nice App Dev
