Redsn0w has been updated tonight to version 0.9.10b4 with the iBooks fix that hit the Corona untethered jailbreak package in Cydia. The fix brings a kernel-level sandbox fix that will let you read your purchased content through iBooks even on a jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 device. The fix is based on comex's patch but was brought to us through a port by xvolks. You now have the option to choose between rejailbreaking your iDevice with redsn0w or installing the Corona untether update on your iDevice. The update was brought to us by MuscleNerd in a tweet not too long ago:



If you choose to go the route of using redsn0w to update your jailbreak, then make sure that before you click the jailbreak button that your iPhone is powered off before entering DFU mode. This is controlled DFU mode. After you do that, click on the jailbreak button and it will go through and exploit your iDevice. The next step is to deselect, "Install Cydia" and anything else that might be checked. When nothing is checked, click next and redsn0w will apply the updates to the jailbreak on your current iOS 5.0.1 untether.

Update #4: The b4 version of redsn0w incorporates the 5.0.1 fix for iBooks, and also for sporadic problems with launchctl. Thanks to xvolks for merging the iBooks (sandbox) fix from comex’s github into the overall corona untether from pod2g! As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).
TIP: If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the appropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using “Extras->Select IPSW”.

I always prefer to use redsn0w because that's one less Cydia package to have installed. If you installed Corona 1.0-5 already, then there is no reason for you to use redsn0w to rejailbreak your iDevice. If you haven't installed Corona yet, you get to choose between redsn0w or Corona because they do the same thing with tonight's updates. Corona might be a little faster. If you are using Windows then be sure to run redsn0w with administrator privileges by right clicking on it and selecting, "Run As Administrator" and say yes to the prompt that will appear. I always find it better to run an iOS jb for a while till I decide where I like all my tweaks and apps and themes. Then when I'm content I restore and rejailbreak making sure to download all apps tweaks and ssh all themes back right away then go and delete daemons and Lang packs. Phone runs smooth as butter

If i re-jailbreak my idevice, will i lose all my cydia packages ? Or is it going to be the same ?

Iphone 4 5.0.1
Corona from cydia broke my settings icon its just blank white now but still works anyone else have this issue?
Tried numourous reboots to no avail.
Tried latest redsnow and got the no successful firmware download after 60000ms
SO then i told redsnow what my ipsw was still got no successful firmware download after 60000ms
Guess i will just live with no icon until it decides to reappear lol

I had a similar issue after installing a cydia packag. Can't remember which one. The music icon was white. Tried rebooting and using redsnow to tether reboot and still nothing changed.
What u need to do is install sbsettings and respring. Don't reboot just respring and u should get back your regular icon

NetFlix has been working on my iphone 4 with IOS 5.0.1 without any problems.
Sorry, it must be some combination of apps that are specific to your device.

You will NOT have any Cydia packages. If you want the iBooks fix you can run redsn0w over the jailbreak. Make sure you have "install Cydia " unchecked. Just check "I books fix".
